In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the George Washington University Office of Advocacy and Support (OAS) will be hosting a film screening of the groundbreaking documentary At Your Cervix on April 28th from 6pm-8:30pm. At Your Cervix breaks the silence about how medical and nursing students learn to perform pelvic exams. Following filmmaker and sexuality educator, A’magine, the film exposes how students are often taught on unconscious patients without their knowledge or consent. Interviews with students, patients, doctors, midwives, politicians and advocates provide compelling and often deeply emotional testimony as to why nonconsensual and unethical pelvic exams on patients under anesthesia must end. The film offers an empowering solution that will revolutionize how pelvic exams are taught and performed in schools and clinics across the country.

Directly following the film screening, OAS will be hosting a panel discussion with A'magine Goddard (she/they) where they will discuss why these painful, disempowering and re-traumatizing practices persist, despite repeated news exposés and the fact that a more ethical, effective and empowering teaching method is well-established.
