Advocacy Services Available at OAS
The Office of Advocacy and Support (OAS) is committed to empowering students at GW through their healing journey by providing trauma-informed, confidential services. We offer care that is safe, professional, and healing-centered. Here's how we can support you:
One-on-One Advocacy Sessions:
We offer emotional support and advocacy throughout your journey to support your well-being, ensuring you have a compassionate ally by your side as you heal.

Office Hours:
Visit us during office hours on Wednesdays: 12 PM to 4 PM at the OAS townhouse located at 520 22nd St NW. During office hours, you can connect with an advocate for a confidential, 30-minute intake meeting with an advocate. We'll listen, assess your needs, and help determine how OAS can best support you. Accompaniments:
We provide a supportive presence during meetings, medical appointments, legal processes, and even to and from class or other GW commitments. Our accompaniments are available early mornings through late evenings, ensuring you have someone with you whenever you need support.
Privacy Suite:
A private, reservable space at the OAS townhouse for survivors to safely access technology, study, rest, attend important and/or sensitive appointments, or meet with friends and allies.

- On and Off-Campus Resource Navigation and Referrals: We offer guidance when navigating and accessing the resources on campus and within the local community, helping you connect with essential support services. Additionally, we provide referrals to specialized services, such as counseling or other support organizations, tailored to meet your unique needs.

- Residential Accommodations: We collaborate with campus partners to assist students with obtaining necessary residential accommodations to ensure a supportive living environment. Whether it's adjusting housing assignments or coordinating with Campus Living & Residential Education, or a leasing office.
- Structured Study Hours: We will work with you to identify the necessary accommodations and coordinate with campus partners to communicate with faculty and staff to meet your needs.
- Community Care Hours: Join us for engaging, creative activities that promote relaxation, foster community, and encourage connection in a safe and supportive setting.
- Ongoing Emotional Support: Confidential, trauma-informed, healing-centered listening and processing space for survivors.
